背景描述：这是 J. Ponten 及其同事于 1966 年至 1969 年分离的恶性神经胶质瘤衍生的众多细胞系之一，例如 U-87-MG、U-118-MG 和 U-373-MG。它在形态上与U-87-MG不同，增殖速度较慢。U-138-MG与U-118-MG具有很强的相似性，至少共享六条衍生标记染色体。
